A trip is not dangerous enough to be a red. Anything that is dangerous to the neck or head then yes. But I do agree that is a cheap shot. The reason why I say a trip is not worth a red card is because ankle tapping is legal which has similar effects on runners. Also please don’t interfere with the rules. It’s bad enough that world rugby is brining in more rules this June. All because South Africa has found ways to make unorthodox plays.

As a South African we love NZL because we always play hard against each other but the springboks pride our engine room strength and ability (scrums) so that new law i think is to punish strong front row nations, part of the game. And yes i agree with squidge on this, as much as in the moment things can happen its a grass roots learning ability not to tackle upright to avoid head collision, or the no arms wrap tackle.

The whole Story of SA Rugby is quite intriguing ... as a Kiwi i remember watching the AB's play the Bok and seeing a lot of South Africans actually cheer on the All Blacks over SA. I truly believe the Spring Bok had a huge hand in bringing that nation together as they developed through the years
